InnovationXchange Background
Profiled by the world renowned Professor Henry Chesbrough in his book “Open Business Models” (Harvard Business School Press), InnovationXchange creates new opportunities for growth through the deployment of the world first IXC Intermediary® Service. In 2007 InnovationXchange’s commitment to open collaborative innovation was noted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) as an exemplar of how countries might go about connecting with global supply chain economies.
IXC Intermediaries at InnovationXchange Malaysia, InnovationXchange Australia and InnovationXchange UK are creative, articulate and highly skilled PhD or Masters qualified scientists and technologists operating within multiple clients under a strict ethical and confidentiality framework. Deployed as a trusted resource for innovation, business development, technology sourcing, research alliance and/or commercialization teams within client organizations. IXC Intermediaries search for and create connections on behalf of clients. These connections can be established with other clients in the network or, importantly, within the broader marketplace.
The establishment of InnovationXchange Malaysia is being sponsored by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with the support of the Malaysian Government and it is expected to deploy around 10 IXC Intermediaries within local companies, universities, research institutes and government agencies over the next eighteen months. These local IXC Intermediaries will be connected to some twenty more international counterparts of IXC Intermediaries using the unique IXC Methodology that cuts through the traditional barriers of confidentiality and Intellectual Poperty to speed up and facilitate collaboration.
The establishment of InnovationXchange Malaysia is particularly expected to strengthen and facilitate business and research collaboration between the economies of Malaysia, the United Kingdom and Australia, and other countries as the international InnovationXchange network continues to expand.
IXC Intermediaries serve clients based in Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and the US; these clients have a combined global turnover in excess of $350 billion and include SMEs (50%), universities and government agencies (25%) as well as major and multinational firms (25%).
The unique commercial neutrality of IXC Intermediaries combined with their technical and scientific skills enable them to enjoy privileged access to their client’s strategic intent as well as their technical capabilities and gaps, including pre-patented research. With this intimate knowledge of clients and their capabilities they are then able to collaborate with other IXC Intermediaries locally and overseas to identify and search for potential collaborative opportunities and engagements focused on solving problems, generating new ideas and creating opportunities for business growth.
